NAMBO Takes Weah to NEC

The National Movement to Support Joseph Boakai (NAMBO), has filed a formal complaint to the National Elections Commission (NEC) and the Liberian Senate, outlining that the Standard Bearer of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC), Senator George Weah is the holder of a current American Passport which automatically disqualifies him to contest the presidency of Liberia in the pending October 10, 2017 elections.
In its complaint to NEC Chairman Cllr. Jerome Korkoyah and the President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Senator Armah Jallah, NAMBO intimated that the CDC Standard Bearer George Weah is the holder of a United States of America passport, which automatically makes him an American citizen, and is therefore in violation of Chapter 22, Section 22.1 of the Aliens and Nationality Law of Liberia of 1974.
A release issued by the National Movement to Support Boakai says the NEC and the Liberian Senate were informed that facts and documents available prove that the CDC Presidential Candidate renewed his American Passport with the number 5052523219, an Issuance Date of 03 May 2013 and an Expiry Date of 02 May 2023.
NAMBO has further indicated that Senator George being the holder of an American Passport, has committed Perjury, in violation of Part II Subchapter B, Section 12.30 of Title 26 of the Liberia Code of Laws Revised when after having renounced his Liberian citizenship in 2013, signed a solemn affidavit and oath in 2017 that he was a Liberian citizen as part of requirement to be qualified as a candidate in the pending October 10, 2017 elections.
