‘I Killed My Daughter Because She Was A Witch’


A 34-year-old lady identified as Mary Seaton who allegedly beat her six-year-old half daughter to death on Sunday, July 1, 2017 in the Peace Island Community of Oldest Congo Town has confessed to carrying on the act because the child, Mardia Garplah, was a witch.

Suspect Seaton currently undergoing investigation by the Crime Services Department at the headquarters of the Liberia National Police, told New Democrat Monday, July 2, 2018 that the deceased was in the constant habit of performing witchcraft at night hours to the detriment of her six-month-old baby.

“My brother this child we are taking about lived with my husband’s family before and was ill-treated because of her devilish act. We brought her in our home with the hope of transforming her but we couldn’t make it,” she told New Democrat.

Prior to her admission of the crime, Police spokesman, addressing a news conference said that the suspect beat the minor mercilessly, broke her left arm, leg and burst her eyes resulting to her instant death.

According to Carter the alleged murderer will be promptly forwarded to court for prosecution following police investigation.

In separate development, police have launched an immediate investigation into the July 1, 2018 mob violence incident, which occurred in Ganta, Nimba County resulting to the death of one Emmanuel Deegon Dukesagar.
