Qatar, Liberia Sign News Agency Agreement


Liberia and the State of Qatar Monday, April 30, signed a news agency agreement in the capital Monrovia to share, transfer knowledge, exchange culture and provide technical and logistical support.
The agreement between the two countries is historic amidst efforts to transform the Liberia News Agency (LINA) into a premier news agency not just in Liberia and West Africa but the entire world, Information Minister Len Eugene Nagbe said while signing on behalf of the Liberian government.

“Our corporation with the east is something that this government prioritizes,” he said.
“This agreement will lead to a bilateral exchange of ideas, technical support cultural exchange and for Qatar and Liberia to start a new page so that both countries can get to know each other better through the news agencies.”

Under the terms and conditions of the Agreement Nagbe said LINA will continue to supply news to the Qatar news Agency and the Qatar news agency will supply news about their region, their country to LINA for distribution in Liberia and the West African sub region.

“We are not just here to sign paper but to implement everything that is contained in this agreement, the minister said. “Qatar is a strong partner to Liberia.”
He extended Liberia’s gratitude to the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani for his continued assistance to the people of Liberia.

During the signing ceremony, Mr. Oamr Ali AL-ALI. Charge d’affairs of the Embassy of Qatar in Monrovia represented the State of Qatar.
The signing of this agreement comes as a new step in cooperation between Qatar and Liberia in the framework of enhancing the bilateral cooperation between the two countries, Mr. Oamr Ali-AlI said.
“Such cooperation would serve the common interest on the basis of mutual benefits of Qatar and Liberia.”
