First Lady Clar Weah is expected to launch and participate in the Monrovia City Corporation’s general cleaning exercise dubbed the “Weah for Clean City” on Saturday, March 3, 2018.
Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee said at conference on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 “Weah for Clean City is intended to engender new dynamism with respect to the first Saturday cleaning-up exercise and strengthen a broader participation of MCC employees and the public.”
Mayor Koijee said the campaign would mainly impact the local communities in order to promote hygienic and sanitary environment for the residents of Monrovia and its environs in support of the government of Liberia “pro poor agenda.”
He said the upcoming exercise will be formally kickoff at the Rally Time Market, UN Drive, where the First Lady will participate in the collection of waste.
The event would climax at the Stockton Creek solid waste transfer station on the Somalia Drive where the Mrs. Weah would be acquainted with the process of waste collection and disposal in Monrovia, the Mayor said.
According to him, this is the first major clean up exercise under his administration. He expressed his commitment to make Monrovia a clean, green and safe city.
