Criminal Court “B’’ Judge Roosevelt Willie has sentenced a 20 -year- old man o 25 years for killing an ex-officer of the Armed Forces of Liberia.
Judge Willie handling down the judgement on Thursday said his action to give the defendant twenty five (25) years of imprisonment was based on good behavior report from the Monrovia Central Prison.
Prior to the sentencing, defendant Troy T. Nelson and co—defendant Korpo Tarnue were arrested and charged with multiple crimes including murder and criminal facilitation and forwarded to the court for trial. Correction officers reported that the convict had no crime record prior to the commissioning of the crime.
Prosecution lawyer represented by Cllr. Sunifu S. Sheriff and Bhatur Holme- Varhah noted that probation service officers should go beyond prior criminal records and extend their investigation to the defendant’s character in their community, which in this instance case was never done.
